Painting the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary

Christianity has kept the events of Jesus’ passion and death in the forefront of our religious practice and spiritual devotion. Through the ages artists have used their imagination and skills to portray the five events remembered in the sorrowful mysteries of the rosary: the Agony in the Garden, the Scourging at the Pillar, the Crowning with Thorns, the Carrying of the Cross, and the Crucifixion.

George will guide us on a visual journey through pictures that show the personal interpretations of various artists whose paintings have colored our collective imagination. This sensory experience will deepen our reflective prayer through Lent and Holy Week.
