A Labyrinth for Lent

March 6, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Led by Betsy Nero and Naja Yazbek

Our focus for extended prayer in Lent this year is a “labyrinth,” an ancient spiritual tool designed to foster contemplation and spiritual transformation. Walked by clerics and lay people alike for centuries, labyrinths are typically formed as a circle with a singular path leading to a center.

Labyrinths are one of the oldest spiritual tools known to humankind, dating back at least 4000 years. They became identified with the Christian church in Europe around 350 A.D. In the Middle Ages it was believed that walking the labyrinth was a form of pilgrimage for those who couldn’t afford the time or the money to make the journey to the Holy Land. That makes the labyrinth the perfect tool for ‘stay at home’ pilgrims like us!

Each Monday we will choose a themed word or quote to reflect on as we trace a labyrinthine path on paper or in imagination.  Join us in person or on Zoom.
