Reading the Bible from the Margins

March 1, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Facilitated by Alex Lopez

Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking discussion as we explore “Reading the Bible from the Margins,” inspired by the work of Miguel De La Torre.
In this session, we will delve into the transformative power of interpreting the Bible through the eyes of those who have been historically marginalized—whether by race, class, gender, or other social factors.

This conversation will challenge readings of the Bible shaped by the dominant culture, encouraging participants to engage with the biblical text using a “third eye.” We’ll explore how those who benefit from unjust structures have used the Bible to justify their worldview and make their perspectives normative. Together, we will consider the importance of prioritizing the voices and experiences of those who have been disenfranchised and oppressed.

This session is designed for everyone, regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey. Come prepared to share your thoughts, listen to others, and explore the Bible in a way that elevates the voices and experiences often overlooked in mainstream interpretations.

$25
