SUMMARY:Wheel of the Year Ritual Celebrations: Beltane
DESCRIPTION:Beltane\nFacilitated by Catherine Mangan\n\nTime to be fruitful\nMaypole dressed in bright ribbons\nPromise of rebirth\n         ~ Terri Duclos\n  \nCome join us in Circle where together we will create Sacred Space and celebrate the turning of the Wheel of the Year to the season of Beltane in the Northern Hemisphere. Also known as May Day\, it is the time between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. Beltane celebrates Nature in all Her noisy\, frenetic\,  amorous energy. Warmth and sunlight are plentiful now\, and Nature is busy expressing Herself in glorious fashion. In our Sacred Space we will celebrate this  season with ritual\, songs\, music\, drumming\, food\, drink and “family friendly” revelry\, as we celebrate Nature   as the Maiden who is young\, playful\, and endlessly  creative. Weather permitting\, we will be outdoors with a fire\, so bring your chairs\, drums and musical instruments. You are also invited to dress in your best “faerie finery” (think Medieval/Renaissance Faire).\nDonation\nRegistration is limited to 18 participants

SUMMARY:The Attraction and Danger of Foreign Women in the Bible
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Rabbi Enid Lader\nIn person\n\n \nForeign women interested the biblical authors for more than one reason. At different times\, they represented a source of attraction but also of danger — a threat to the formation of a coherent and homogeneous nation…\nThis basically ambivalent attitude towards foreign  women is evident in that some of the most pious and ideally portrayed women in the Bible are of alien origin\, but at the same time\, some of the most negative and dangerous also come from foreign lands. Based on an article by David Fishelov\, we will examine these two  extremes\, as well as some interesting mixtures.\n$20\nEnid Lader is the Rabbi Emerita at Beth Israel – The West Temple in Cleveland\, Ohio.\nIn retirement\, she is  actively engaged with interfaith programming and\, along with her husband Harry\, actively engaged in babysitting their local grandchildren.\n
