SUMMARY:Wendell Berry: Poet and Mad Farmer
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Mary Beth Gray\, SND\n \nWendell Berry has lived and worked in nature all his life. There he finds a deep connection with God. His essays and poetry open our hearts\, connecting us more deeply to ourselves\, to God\, and to the natural world.\nHe and his wife\, now in their eighties\, still live on their Kentucky farm. Berry has immersed himself in the natural world\, and gifted us with poems. He began writing poetry  in 1979\, and continues today. He is an activist for good use of land—writing to politicians and taking part in demonstrations. Berry referred to himself (tongue-in-cheek) as “Mad Farmer\,” because he opposed many current realities\, especially industrialized farming and thoughtless destruction of land.\nWe will explore a sampling of his poetry and its relevance in our lives.\nEach of our individual actions affect our world\, our home.\nCome\, share\, learn!\nMaterials will be provided.\n$15\nMary Beth Gray is a Sister of Notre Dame in Cleveland\, OH\, with a Master of Arts in Theopoetics and Writing.\nTheopoetics is a less doctrinal\, more heart-centered\, approach to God. It is the art of using words\, thoughts\, and images that land on the heart\, in an aesthetic and inspiring spirituality that is open to myth\, metaphor and mystery. She loves poetry and has spent considerable time exploring the poems of Wendell Berry. \n

SUMMARY:No Man’s Folk Music Gathering
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Christopher Reynolds\nIt’s Earth Day! \nLet’s sing for the happiness of all beings of Earth in a participatory\, ensouled cosmos.\nChris Reynold’s No Man’s Folk music is a sobriety-based musical approach awakening peoples in awakening places. It unites original music with what we call ‘traditional’ folk music and with what is traditional in the sense of ‘Indigenous’ folk music.\nHere is a next good step for Recovery\, as understood in the Recovery Movement. In its deepest sense\, “Recovery is a remembrance that we are sacred beings alive\,creating and dreaming of a sacred Earth at the harmony point of our solar system.”\nNo Man’s Folk carries forward into lifetimes the no man’s land of peace that came forth during the 1914 Christmas Truce because of music.\nWeather permitting we’ll be outside. Chris includes sacred and ritual with his music.\n$20\, no one is turned away\, couples/families $25
