DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Catherine Mangan\n\nThis dark Samhain night\nWe walk a path of beauty\nwith our ancestors.\n              – Terri Duclos     \nCome join us in Circle where together we will create Sacred Space and celebrate the turning of the Wheel of  the Year to the season of Samhain\, pronounced “Sow-en”. This festival celebrates the end of summer and is the third and final Celtic harvest festival in The Wheel. Samhain also known as Halloween\, recognizes that the energies of nature are moving toward their rest\, and the venerable Crone\, who is filled with the wisdom of Her long life\, also invites us to rest. Samhain is the cross-quarter festival between the Autumnal Equinox and the Winter Solstice\, and is also the time when we remember our ancestors with honor and gratitude. In our Sacred Space we will share rituals\, symbols\, stories\, guided imagery meditations\, simple crafts\, music\, drumming\, food and drink as we celebrate what we have harvested and received in our lives. We will also have an Ancestors Altar\, and you are invited to bring a picture or memento of an ancestor whom you wish to honor during our gathering (optional).\nSuggested donation $10

This celebration occurs in the cross-quarter threshold between the Summer Solstice and the Autumnal Equinox\, and is an ancient Celtic Fire Festival; the first of three harvest festivals in the Wheel of the Year. This festival is also known as Lammas\, meaning “loaf mass”\, when the first loaves of the season were blessed during mass. In our Sacred Space we will share rituals\, symbols\, stories\, guided imagery meditations\, simple crafts\, music\, drumming\, food and drink as we celebrate what we are harvesting in our lives. Weather permitting\, we will gather outdoors with a fire\, so bring chairs\, drums and musical instruments as we together share in the warmth of a summer night. Also known as May Day\, it is the time between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. Beltane celebrates Nature in all Her noisy\, frenetic\, amorous energy. Warmth and sunlight are plentiful now\, and Nature is busy expressing Herself in glorious fashion. It is a time of warm winds\, fresh air\, and the fragrances of blossoms and green growing beings all around us.\nIn our Sacred Space we will celebrate this season with ritual\, music\, drumming\, food\,\ndrink and “family friendly” revelry\, as we celebrate Nature as the Maiden who is\nyoung\, playful and endlessly creative. Weather permitting\, we will be outdoors\nwith a fire\, so bring your chairs and drums. Imbolc\, translated as “in the belly” in the old Gaelic\nlanguage\, corresponds to other holidays in the Celtic and northern\nEuropean traditions\, such as Brigid’s Day (goddess and saint)\, and\nCandlemas. The beloved American holiday of Groundhog Day is also\nenjoyed during this time. Imbolc is celebrated on February 1-2 and\nfalls between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. It has been\ncelebrated as a Celtic festival since ancient times. February is a time\nof darkness\, deep cold and ice in the northern hemisphere\, and yet\nwe sense the very first stirrings of new life deep in the Earth.
