SUMMARY:Is your God Big Enough? Close Enough? You Enough?
DESCRIPTION:An Integral Approach to the Triune God\nFacilitated by Mike Reiling\nOn Zoom\n \nSpiritual writer Paul R. Smith\, using Integral Philosophy\, advocates for radically expanding our understanding of Trinity. He suggests an understanding of the Trinity  as “3 faces” or “3 dimensions” of the God Three as One. In this program we will first survey integral thinking as developed by philosopher Ken Wilber. Then consider God as “Beyond Us\,” as “With Us” and “As Us.” We will practice praying to the God of these 3 faces as Jesus once did in praying to God\, with God\, and as God. Our sessions will include short presentations\, prayer times\, and sharing of insights.\nMike Reiling M.Ed.is a retired high school theology teacher who regularly does programs on Teilhard de Chardin\, the Gospel of John\, and an integral approach to spirituality.\n$10 a session\n  \n

SUMMARY:Rembrandt's "Selfies" - cancelled
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by George Matejka\n\nRembrandt paints\, draws\, and engraves some 100 self-portraits. Is he simply a narcissist\, or did he have other motives for his lifelong interest in portraying himself? Perhaps he leaves us a form of a diary or journal in images rather than words.\nHe also places himself in several biblical scenes such as the crucifixion and deposition. By substituting ourselves for Rembrandt we can meditate on our “attendance” at the biblical events he portrays. We will first study the self-portraits and then explore his Christian faith through his self-portraitures.\n$20\nGeorge Matejka\, retired from his position as Chair of the Philosophy and Religious Studies Department at Ursuline College\, currently serves as an adjunct professor at Ursuline and on the Ethics Committee at Jennings Home for Older Adults.\n  \n

SUMMARY:Enya’s Mystical Music:  A Workshop to Listen\, Write and Talk
DESCRIPTION:Please make your Program Payment HERE.\n\nFacilitated by Ben Bagocius\n \nEnya’s music faces darkness with an otherworldly lightness and dives into the deep to uplift. SUMMARY:Rescheduling: History of Pilgrimage
DESCRIPTION:This event will be rescheduled in the future\, keep an eye out to register at the new date.\nFacilitated by George Matejka on ZOOM\n \nA recurring theme in major religions is the concept of pilgrimage. Judaism’s three pilgrimage festivals are Passover\, Shavuot\, and Sukkot. The Hajj is a pilgrimage to Mecca\, Saudi Arabia that is required  of every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so and is physically able to make it. Pilgrimage in  Christianity is a journey to a holy place with religious or spiritual significance. It’s not compulsory\, but many Christians choose to go to holy sites to heal or deepen their connection with God.\n$20\nGeorge Matejka\, retired from his position as Chair of the Philosophy and Religious Studies Department at Ursuline College\, currently serves as an adjunct professor at Ursuline and is on the Ethics Committee at Jennings Home for Older Adults.\n

SUMMARY:Pilgrims of Hope: Jubilee 2025
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by George Matejka on ZOOM\n \nRooted in the Biblical concept of a Year of Jubilee described in Leviticus 25\, and first established as a Holy Year in 1300 by Pope Boniface VIII\, the Catholic Church continues the tradition of a Jubilee Holy Year in 2025. This presentation unpacks the original religious meaning of the Year of Jubilee and traces its development in Christianity. The theme of this Holy Year\, Pilgrims of Hope\, invites us to reflect on the    tradition of pilgrimage – then and now — as well as on the theological virtue of hope. We will develop a personalized approach to participation in the spiritual blessings available to us during this Holy Year of 2025.\n$20\nGeorge Matejka\, retired from his position as Chair of the Philosophy and Religious Studies Department at Ursuline College\, currently serves as an adjunct professor at Ursuline and as well as on the Ethics Committee at Jennings Home for Older Adults. \n
