DESCRIPTION:A Four Session Lenten Program\n \nIn John’s Gospel\, discipleship is a verb; an on-going life-enriching and demanding process.\nRather than being simply a testimony about Jesus\, this view of the life of Christ seems written to offer guidance to those who seriously desire to become his followers.\nWe will reflect on this enriched understanding of the Gospel of John and its meanings for us. Sessions will include short presentations\, reflective writing time\, and the sharing of our insights.\nSession 1 ~ Jesus and the Process of Discipling\nSession 2 ~ Peter\, the In-process Disciple\nSession 3 ~ Jesus’s Discipling Guidance\nSession 4 ~  Death and Resurrection for Jesus’ followers\nRegister to receive the link.\n$10 / session \nMichael Reiling is a retired high school theology teacher and a serious student of Teilhard de Chardin. SUMMARY:Finding Jesus in the Parables of the Lost and Found
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by George Matejka\nOn Zoom\n\nIn his gospel\, St. Luke shares with us three parables on the theme of Lost and Found. The first is the parable of the lost sheep; the second is the story of the lost coin; and the third is the parable of the lost son\, which we usually refer to as the parable of the Prodigal Son.\nOur study will uncover the reasons why Luke chooses to share with his readers the three parables which all basically have the same theme. Our goal will be not so much to find a lost sheep\, coin\, or son\, but rather to seek and find what Jesus reveals to us about God in these gospel stories. What is St. Luke teaching us through these parables about Jesus and his heavenly Father? Remember\, “seek\, and you will find.” (Luke 11: 9)\n$20\nGeorge Matejka has recently retired from his position as Chair of the Philosophy and Religious Studies Department at Ursuline College. He currently serves as an adjunct professor at Ursuline as well as serving on the Ethics Committees at both St. Vincent Charity Medical Center and Jennings Home for Older Adults.

SUMMARY:Esther: Through the Artist’s Lens
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Rabbi Enid Lader\nOn Zoom\n\nThe book of Esther is a tale of hidden identities\, blatant hatred of the Jews\, courage in the face of danger\, a laughable king and his evil right-hand man… and a beautiful young woman who finds herself faced with a life-threatening decision – for herself and her people.\n And that’s just the Reader’s Digest version!  \nAfter we tell the tale\, we’ll examine a variety      of paintings that depict the story – from a variety of perspectives.\n$20\nEnid Lader is the Rabbi Emerita at Beth Israel – The West Temple in Cleveland\, Ohio. In retirement\, she is  actively engaged with interfaith programming and\, along with her husband Harry\, actively engaged in babysitting their local grandchildren.

SUMMARY:A Person or an Angle of Light
DESCRIPTION:Sammy Schuckert\, from Unsplash.com\n\nWriting and Thinking with Icelandic Literature\nFacilitated by Ben Bagocius on Zoom\nDrawing from Icelandic writer Audor Ava Olafsdottir’s most recent novel Animal Life  we will read a little\, write a little\, and share out whatever you feel called to. There is no pre-reading required\, since this session is less about plot comprehension and more about letting Olafsdottir’s lines about light and darkness\, mountains and mud\, self and spirit spur our imaginations and our writing. The session is writing intensive\, so come with a pen and paper. By the end expect to be as uncertain as Olafsdottir when you look up and see human beings: “is it a person or an angle of light?” \n$15\nBen Bagocius\, PhD\, writes and teaches across literature\, spirituality\, and queer thought.
