SUMMARY:Esther: Through the Artist’s Lens
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Rabbi Enid Lader\nOn Zoom\n\nThe book of Esther is a tale of hidden identities\, blatant hatred of the Jews\, courage in the face of danger\, a laughable king and his evil right-hand man… and a beautiful young woman who finds herself faced with a life-threatening decision – for herself and her people.\n And that’s just the Reader’s Digest version!  \nAfter we tell the tale\, we’ll examine a variety      of paintings that depict the story – from a variety of perspectives.\n$20\nEnid Lader is the Rabbi Emerita at Beth Israel – The West Temple in Cleveland\, Ohio. In retirement\, she is  actively engaged with interfaith programming and\, along with her husband Harry\, actively engaged in babysitting their local grandchildren.

SUMMARY:Journaling from Age-ing to Sage-ing
DESCRIPTION:All the Mondays of November \nOn Zoom \nFacilitated by Michael Reiling\nSage-ing is the definite life task of our elder years. We seek a valued wholeness for our lives through  focus on inner work. This includes consciously harvesting the goodness we’ve lived and integrating negative experiences positively into our lives. The sage-ing process has been called a “new rite of passage.” It is a stage of life new to humanity in the past 50 years as more of us live well beyond our official retirement age.\nJoin us in doing our own work of sage-ing as we journal through these topics:\nQuestioning Big\nLiving Grateful\nForgiving and Reconciling\nReframing the Past\nAttending to the Inner Dark\nAccepting Our Dying\nServing Life\nHarvesting Our Lives\nRegister to receive the link.\n$10 / session\nMichael Reiling is a retired high school theology teacher\nand a serious student of Teilhard de Chardin.\nMike teaches classes in personal journaling\, Whole Brain Living\, and Tai Chi.

SUMMARY:A Person or an Angle of Light
DESCRIPTION:Sammy Schuckert\, from Unsplash.com\n\nWriting and Thinking with Icelandic Literature\nFacilitated by Ben Bagocius on Zoom\nDrawing from Icelandic writer Audor Ava Olafsdottir’s most recent novel Animal Life  we will read a little\, write a little\, and share out whatever you feel called to. There is no pre-reading required\, since this session is less about plot comprehension and more about letting Olafsdottir’s lines about light and darkness\, mountains and mud\, self and spirit spur our imaginations and our writing. The session is writing intensive\, so come with a pen and paper. By the end expect to be as uncertain as Olafsdottir when you look up and see human beings: “is it a person or an angle of light?” \n$15\nBen Bagocius\, PhD\, writes and teaches across literature\, spirituality\, and queer thought. Learn more and reach out at BenjaminBagocius.com and InstituteForSpiritualPoetry.com\n  \n

Reflect on your life’s on-going adventure through a series of writing prompts that lead you towards a depth not possible in your younger years. Come reflect and write with us.\n$10 / session

SUMMARY:Whole Brain Living
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Mike Reiling\nBased on Whole Brain Living by Jill Bolte Taylor PhD.\n\nThis will be a four session Zoom program\nMondays\, January 23\, 30\, February 6\, 13 | 7 – 8:30 pm\nIn Whole Brain Living Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor explores our left and right brain functioning. Taylor\, a neuroanatomist\, had  a stroke in the late 1990s that paralyzed the left side of her brain\, leaving only the right side of her brain functioning. Her experience living in the right brain as she slowly brought the left brain back gave her experiential insight into right brain functioning in life and for spiritual experience. As a result of her life and scientific knowledge\, we can choose right brain functioning and  enrich our spiritual experience. In this program\, through short presentations\, journaling\, and conversations\, we  will study brain functioning and how we can realize more spiritual states of mind.\nThe 4 sessions will each include short presentations\, reflection and journaling time and conversations.  Participants will need a journal and a pen.\n$10/session\n
