The Advisory Board is tasked with determining the long-term viability of Centering Space, identifying the funding needed to continue the ministry in collaboration with the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, and identifying the resources and staffing needed to maintain and expand the ministry. They meet regularly offering guidance, advice and support.

Tim Walters

Tim Walters is a former community organizer and current advocate for the homeless. He founded and for three years managed the Metanoia Project, a seasonal homeless shelter located at St. Malachi Parish. He is father of eight and grandfather of 23 (or maybe 24).

Mary Timko

Mary Timko is serving as Chaplain for University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center and has been actively involved at Centering Space since she finished her Masters in Theology studies at Barry University. Her Clinical Pastoral Education Internship and Residency were completed at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center from 2009 to 2012. She is currently a member of the Centering Space Board of Advisors.

Gerry Stylski

Gerry Stylski spent 45 years in ministry in the Lutheran Church, participating in evangelism, Altar Guild and the Women’s Group, as well as serving as Youth Director. Working with her husband, who recently retired from parish ministry, she listened to, prayed for and loved the church family they served. Gerry has four children and seven grandchildren.

Michael Reiling

Mike Reiling is a retired high school theology teacher and retreat leader, who leads adult spirituality programs at a number of places, including Centering Space. His specialty is providing programs around the thought and vision of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin S.J. Mike is also a Tai Chi practice leader at several recreation centers.

Edie Myers

Edie worked with autistic children for years and now enjoys family fun and community outreach. Over the years Edie has been involved with community services, interfaith dialogue, retreats, and Just Faith. Her love of nature and travel is reflected in watercolor and poetry. Edie lives in Lakewood with her husband Bill, mother-in-law Joan and two grown children, Marta and Patrick.

Mary Beth Marquard, HM

Mary Beth Marquard, HM
Mary Beth is a Certified Pastoral Minister for the Cleveland Catholic Diocese. She has served in many capacities, including Co-director of the House of Prayer in Richfield, Pastoral Minister in Cleveland Parishes, alcohol and drug addiction therapist for Glenbeigh and Recovery Resources and consultant to Cleveland Catholic Diocese for annulments. She earned her Bachelor of Education at St. John’s College and her Master of Arts in Counseling and Human Services from John Carroll University.

Mark Laskey

Mark Laskey is Executive Director of Chaplain Partnership, a 103-year-old nonprofit ministry that supplies chaplains to hospitals and other health care institutions across our region. He is a graduate of John Carroll University and holds a postgraduate certificate in Labor Relations from Cleveland State University.

Cheryl Keehner, CSA

Cheryl Keehner, a Sister of Charity of St. Augustine (CSA), is a certified pastoral minister for the diocese of Cleveland. Sister Cheryl leads prayer regularly and has developed programs for the Institute of Learners in Retirement (ILR) at Baldwin Wallace. To support her ministry, she has studied spirituality, liturgy, pastoral counseling and spiritual direction.

Syndie Eardly

Syndie Eardly is a Corporate Marketing Writer for North American Title Group. She has been actively involved at Centering Space since she graduated from the Ignatian Spirituality Institute at John Carroll University in 2010 and served on the former Core Circle for six years.

Anne Butts

Anne C. Butts
Anne is a retired hospice chaplain. Previously, she worked in campus ministry, sales, and education as an English teacher. A member of St. Peter Church in Cleveland, Anne and her husband Bert live in Avon Lake and enjoy spending time with their two daughters and two grandchildren. She also enjoys reading, journaling, walking and gardening.
