“Space the final frontier…” I’m a lifelong Star Trek fan. The show’s introductory words are etched into my mind and have always inspired exploration. Yet rather than rocketing into outer space, I have chosen as a personal coach to explore inner dimensions within myself and outer dimensions – the space between me and other.
Making space allows for something new; holding the space between myself and another creates the opportunity for emergence.
Not rushing to fill a space with my preconceived thoughts, beliefs and ideas feels like an invitation to Life, to the Divine, to Beingness to show me the beauty and grace already present.
As a new board member, I started thinking about Centering Space. I realized that I had always presumed that the word Centering was the focus. As Sr. Carol Kandiko shared the history and mission of Centering Space, I realized that the emphasis is the space. Wow. Mind blown. Space.
How do I wrap my arms around space? How does space matter? I have both taught and attended programs at Centering Space. I have sat in prayer, practiced Qigong, read poetry. While the activities have been informative, inspirational and insightful, I am opening more to the space.
Won’t you come and join me? There’s always space for another.
