2021 October Blog by Betsy Nero
Sabbath – a time set aside for rest and worship; in Hebrew it means to cease or to rest.
October, if one allows, can be viewed as one of the greatest gifts from our loving Creator. The gift of abundant beauty; the gift of change; even the gift of loss. Again, if we allow ourselves to enter fully into this season, October can show us what we might learn: that letting go can lead to greater growth and life; that endings often bring us unbelievable new beginnings; that quiet is necessary for inner growth. The colors of change and giving up in this this great month of Autumn indicate what being human is all about – we grow, change, suffer, struggle, and change again and again. Fall brings with it an opportunity to slow down and take sabbath time to reflect on the movements, changes, and growth of one’s life.
This fall on Saturday, October 23, I will lead a Sabbath Retreat Day. Women who wish to deepen their appreciation of this gift time of change and rest are welcome! Come for the quiet, the silence, the sharing, the fellowship and the hearty soup!
