Finding Home Again

I attended the 20th anniversary celebration for Centering Space on Sunday, April 23rd.  Having only participated in their various programs for the past year or so, I was amazed at the number of people in attendance. Since I have only attended prayer groups and other programs on line, it was thrilling to meet several of my Zoom friends in person…especially Sr. Carol, Betsy and Sue.

I was particularly moved by the song, Refreshed, Renewed and Refocused, that Mike Reiling wrote and sang for us. It expressed all our feelings of such a beautiful, loving and welcoming place. (Lyrics below)

Another aspect for me personally is that Centering Space is located on the same campus as my high school, St. Augustine Academy, and is behind the house I lived in as a teenager.  It is literally my former backyard.
It truly is home, a place of love and growth and spiritual renewal.

Refreshed, Renewed and Refocused

My life a grind, no peace inside me
I couldn’t focus, couldn’t pray
Then I heard where I could make it
Just a short drive away.

I found a place that welcomes seekers
A smile it brought into my heart
I drove the driveway past the school yard
Time for my new start!

Well, Centering Space, it’s now my place
It is for me a time of grace
Refreshed, Renewed and
Refocused am I.

It’s by the Lake, and a park
A red brick building set apart
Refreshed, Renewed and
Refocused am I.

Carol and Betsy smiled my way
Others wished me a good day
I joined a group that welcomed me
Such warm hospitality!

Well, Centering Space, it’s now my place

Refocused am I

So come yourself, don’t be afraid
The best decision you’ll ever make!
