1) self-kindness,
2) recognition of our common humanity,
3) mindfulness.
Together we will explore the mindful dimension of self-compassion through two forms of Buddhist meditation: loving kindness (or metta) and tonglen. Popularized by meditation teachers such as Sharon Salzberg and Tara Brach, these practices offer pathways to expand our “heart-space,” cultivating compassion for ourselves in difficult times and teaching us how to bear authentic witness to the suffering of our world.
Matt Gesicki earned a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary, where he studied
Christian and Buddhist traditions of healing and teachings on suffering.
He has 2 years of experience in hospice and palliative care and is also
experienced in facilitating meditation and mindfulness practice.
He lives in Lakewood, Ohio.
