A Spirituality of Nonviolence: What Scripture Can Teach Us

Session Two

The discussion and reflection will center on the book, Seizing the Nonviolent MomentsReflections on the Spirituality of Nonviolence Through the Lens of Scripture by Nancy Small. Ms. Small is a long time peace activist who served as National Coordinator of Pax Christi USA.
Participants will be able to reflect upon and discuss the “nonviolent wisdom of Scripture.”

 

Below are the readings for each session of the presentation A Spirituality of Nonviolence: What Scripture Can Teach Us. All readings are from the book, Seizing the Nonviolent Moments: Reflections on the Spirituality of Nonviolence Through the Lens of Scripture by Nancy Small.

Participants are encouraged to purchase this book.

Session 1 – September 26th – Chapters 1,2,3
Session 2 – October 31st – Chapters 4,5,6
Session 3 – December 5th – Chapters 7,8,9,10

Patrick Gibbons, Ph.D. has been a Spiritual Care Coordinator for the Hospice of the Western Reserve for the past 16 years. Previous to working in hospice, he taught at Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio and Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania. Patrick received his Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Duquesne University with a focus on social ethics.
