POSTPONED – An Evening of Story Telling with Ofelia Rivas
January 13, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Rescheduled for Thursday, February 10!
On Zoom with Ofelia Rivas
Last spring Ofelia shared with us concepts and beliefs that form the foundation of her O’odham Native American tradition; a worldview grounded in a deep relationship with Nature; a spirituality that recognizes the sacredness of all being. We are honored that Ofelia has agreed to return for a storytelling evening.
Leslie Marmon Silko wrote, “When I say ‘storytelling,’ I don’t just mean sitting down and telling a once-upon-a time kind of story. I mean a whole way of seeing yourself, the people around you, your life, the place of your life in the bigger context, not just in terms of nature and location, but in terms of what has gone on before, what’s happened to other people. It’s a whole way of being.”
In Ofelia’s tradition storytelling is reserved for winter, so we are grateful to have her back welcoming us into her family circle with winter stories. Bob Toth and John Briggs will moderate the gathering.
