Spiritual Comfort for the Dying – Prayers, Readings and Ritual

This presentation will discuss prayers and readings from
different spiritual traditions that bring comfort
to the dying and their loved ones.
We will discuss the role of ritual at the
end of life. We will also explore what ritual entails, provide
an example of a ritual for the dying, and end the
session with a remembrance service.

Patrick Gibbons, Ph.D. has been a Spiritual Care Coordinator for the Hospice of the Western Reserve for the past 17 years. Previous to working in hospice, he taught at Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio and Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania. Patrick received his Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Duquesne University with a focus on social ethics.
