Mary of Magdala

February 11, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Facilitated by Kim Langley

Spend some time with one of the most interesting, misunderstood, and generally talked about women in the New Testament, Mary of Magdala. We’ll look at how she’s been rendered in classical art, in church history, in a careful reading of the scriptures, and we will steal a glance at her role in a non-canonical work called The Gospel of Mary Magdalene. We’ll try to get in touch with the flesh and blood woman that she was, her central place in the community that surrounded Jesus, and why she became an object of speculation, rumor, and calumny, before she finally re-emerged as a respected figure of intense interest today.

$15

Kim is a busy facilitator of training and retreats, for LifeBalance Enterprises, Inc. She’s a certified lay ecclesial minister who for 10+ years has led conversation circles, introducing seekers and prayers of all kinds to a mindfulness process that deepens spirituality through poetry. Certified at the Haden Institute as a Spiritual Director, she’s convinced that lectio divina and the right poems are the perfect match for heart opening and soul healing. Her book, published in spring 2019, is for anyone dealing with grief, including caregivers, the bereaved, chaplains, social workers, funeral directors, and health care workers who support families or facilitate grief groups  with end of life issues.
